I know what your thinking…..what the f@^# is the MoaC Project. Well I’ll tell you. It is the “Mother of all Clouds” Project. That just tells you everything you wanted to know doesn’t it. You’re all in, don’t fool yourself….the lightbulb just went off in your head and you want to get in on this bad boy. Great because this is a community project, we want you all to participate and help us along the way.
What exactly are you doing?
We are going to be building the “Mother of all Clouds” and we are going to document the whole thing along the way. Before you get the wrong idea when I say the “Mother of all Clouds” I’m not talking about build a 50K Square Foot data center with all trimmings. I’m talking about build solutions, building use cases, integrating products together and building writing customizations all just because we can. We are going to start at the very beginning and document the design, document the installation of all the components, and document and make available the creation of all the integrations, workflows, scripts, and whatever else we throw in it.
How can I get involved?
Easy. We want you to tell us what you want in it. What integrations do you want to see, what workflows should we be building, what are the use cases that you just have to have. That’s not all once you tell us what you want in the “MoaC” then all of you get to vote on the submissions and tell us which submission to work on next. Everything will be fully documented and published on the blog site and a video walk through of each use case implemented will be published as well.
What products are you using in the MoaC?
In short, you tell us? We will be starting out with the following list, however we will be more than happy to add more and more and more and more and more and more….I think you get the point.
- Log Insight
- vCloud Connector
- VMware Integrated OpenStack
- VMware Air
This list is just the beginning, because we need to start somewhere. Currently we are beginning the planning phases of the MoaC infrastructure. Once we have finished the planning we will blog the design and get this rocking and rolling.
How large is the environment you are building the MoaC in?
Not big enough. If you know of anyone willing to donate hardware we will happily take it, Currently we are building out the MoaC across two locations with limited resources at both sites. We will be publishing a run down of the hardware with the initial design. Any vendors who want to sponsor the project by donating hardware as well as access to applications or services we will be listed on our sponsors page and called out in any articles that are specific to items you donated.
More info coming soon!
In the mean time tell us what you would like to see in the MoaC. Please include a valid email address so we may contact cor any questions or clarification if needed.
