vCloud Automation Center – vCAC 6.0 – Creating an Amazon AWS Endpoint

Caution: Articles written for technical not grammatical accuracy, If poor grammar offends you proceed with caution ;-)

Creating an Amazon AWS Endpoint is really just assigning the credentials you would like to use to communicate with Amazon. vCAC already knows how to communicate with Amazon, it just doesn’t know what it needs to authenticate. To create the AWS Enpoint perform the following steps:

  1. We start by going to the Infrastructure tab, then choosing Endpoints from the side menu and then Endpoints again. Once there hover over the New Endpoint item on the right side of the page.

  2. Once the menu slides down select Cloud and then Amazon EC2.

  4. Give your “Endpoint” a “Name” and then “click” the selection box next to “Credentials“. Select the “Amazon EC2” “Credentials” you just created and “Click” “Ok“., then “Click” “Ok” on the “New Endpoint” Screen.

  6. You will now see your newly crated Endpoint listed on the Endpoints screen. At this point vCAC executes a workflows that connects to Amazon AWS and validates your Credentials. If your credentials are validated the workflow will proceed to do a Data Discovery. The discovery will detect the available Amazon EC2 resources available for use. Once the discovery if finished the Amazon EC2 resources will become available within the “Fabric Group” for selection. You must enable the resource in the “Fabric Group” before you can crate a reservation.
